VETERINARY DENTAL REFERRAL CENTER
Northeast Veterinary Hospital has accepted dental referrals from
veterinarians for the past 21 years. If you are interested in
obtaining dental care for your pet, please request your
veterinarian refer your pet to our dental service.
Your pet will receive a complete dental examination with intraoral
radiographs. You may request an estimate prior to the
procedure. Most dental procedures are completed so that the
patient will be able to be discharged in the afternoon.
Usually overnight hospital stays are not necessary.
We attempt to answer all your questions, and are available for
telephone consultations. A complete report is faxed or emailed to the
referring veterinarian when the dental procedures have been
completed and the healing process has been monitored.
The greatest threat to your pet's good health is periodontal
disease. If periodontitis is left untreated, other organ
systems may suffer as a result. Prevention of periodontal
disease is vital to your pet's health. Prevention consists of
(1) regular dental cleanings and dental exams, (2) brushing or wiping the pet's
teeth or using an anti-plaque product especially made for pets, (3)
providing healthy chews or chew toys to aid in the mechanical
removal of plaque, and (4) vaccination against the major types of
bacteria that cause periodontal disease. It takes a united
approach to prevent the threat of periodontal disease, but now we
have the tools to help us succeed. Do not hesitate to
ask how you can help your pet have good oral health and
kissing sweet breath.
Look into your pet's mouth and see if there are yellowish or
brownish discolorations on the teeth. Are there any fractured
teeth? Is a tooth loose or mobile? Is bad breath
present?
Are the teeth crowded together with food packed between them?
These are problems that we can address.
Dental problems do not go away on their own. They have to be
treated. It is not normal for a dog to lose all his/her
teeth. We want to work with you to improve the health of your
companion. We want to save your pet's teeth.
